Born on Takodana, Maz Kanata is a thousand-year-old, Force-sensitive alien. A pirate smuggler, she is the one who recovers Luke's lightsaber lost on Bespin, which she then gives to Rey to finally join the resistance when her castle on her home planet is destroyed by the First Order.
